In the
following Tech Note we will see how to insert an Industrial Graphic (IG) defined
in our Graphic Toolbox over a BIM model object, associating this IG to the
position and animation of the BIM element.
Taking a BIM model of a house, we will associate the IG to a piece of furniture, for
example a couch. In this example, we are goin to associate the IG to the element ending on #17348, take note of its name. We can see the complete name of the BIM elements on Spatial Structure view on Runtime Preview and selecting the element on the 3D model.
In
BIM Toolbox
, open
Layers
configuration and create a new layer by clicking
Add New
button and defining a name. In this example, Layer01.
Press
Save and close
button located on right lower part.
In
BIM Toolbox

Templates
, create a new one by clicking on
Add New
and defining a name. In this example , TestIndustrialGraphic.
Then click
Select AG
button,
Galaxy Browser
window will open. Find and select the desired IG and press
OK
button. In this example, we define the IG named Symbol_001, which is a green square with transparency properties.
Press
Save and close

Instances
and create a new instance by selecting
Add New
button. In
Template Selection
window select $
TestIndustrialGraphic template and press
Save and close

Define a name for the instance, in this example TestInstance, and press
Select Layer

window select Layer01 and press
Save and close

Derivation View
. Find the name of element corresponding to the piece of furniture.
With the element selected, press
Select Template
button. In
Template Selection
window, select $
TestIndustrialGraphic and press
Save and close

window, select TestInstance and press
Save and close
button.
The IGs will be shown only in Runtime OMI application. They are not compatible with BIM Viewer Runtime preview or OMI Preview.
In runtime application, check that Layer01 is checked.
Once you open the 3D model, the IG will be shown over the element.
