TN256GIS - How to insert an Industrial Graphic over a BIM model element

In the following Tech Note we will see how to insert an Industrial Graphic (IG) defined in our Graphic Toolbox over a BIM model object, associating this IG to the position and animation of the BIM element.

Taking a BIM model of a house, we will associate the IG to a piece of furniture, for example a couch. In this example, we are goin to associate the IG to the element ending on #17348, take note of its name. We can see the complete name of the BIM elements on Spatial Structure view on Runtime Preview and selecting the element on the 3D model.

In BIM Toolbox , open Layers configuration and create a new layer by clicking Add New button and defining a name. In this example, Layer01.
Press Save and close button located on right lower part.

In BIM Toolbox , open Templates , create a new one by clicking on Add New and defining a name. In this example , TestIndustrialGraphic.
Then click Select AG button, Galaxy Browser  window will open. Find and select the desired IG and press OK button. In this example, we define the IG named Symbol_001, which is a green square with transparency properties.
Press Save and close button located on right lower part.

In BIM Toolbox , open Instances and create a new instance by selecting Add New button. In Template Selection window select $ TestIndustrialGraphic template and press Save and close button.
Press Save and close button located on right lower part.

Define a name for the instance, in this example TestInstance, and press Select Layer button. In Layer Selection window select Layer01 and press Save and close button.
Press Save and close button located on right lower part.

In BIM Toolbox , open Derivation View . Find the name of element corresponding to the piece of furniture.

With the element selected, press Select Template button. In Template Selection window, select $ TestIndustrialGraphic and press Save and close button.

Press Select Instance button. In Instance Selection window, select TestInstance and press Save and close button.

The IGs will be shown only in Runtime OMI application. They are not compatible with BIM Viewer Runtime preview or OMI Preview.

In runtime application, check that Layer01 is checked.

Once you open the 3D model, the IG will be shown over the element.
